With the 2027 Spring/Summer fashion calendar less than a month away, we look back at Nigerian stars who have graced the runway during fashion week.
Celebrities walking the runway at fashion shows is not a new phenomenon, with musicians, actors and influencers regularly making appearances. Some notable examples include Little Simz walking for Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 show, Dua Lipa for Versace’s Spring/Summer 2022 presentation, and ATEEZ’s Seonghwa for SONGZIO’s Spring/Summer 2026 show, among many others. More recently, singer Ciara closed Fruché’s Lagos Fashion Week 2025 show in a dramatic red look.
The runway has become a space where fashion and pop culture increasingly intersect. For designers, having a recognisable face walk in a show can generate buzz, attract wider audiences and bring greater visibility to a collection. For celebrities, it offers an opportunity to strengthen their fashion credentials, connect with brands and expand their influence beyond their usual industries.
This crossover is particularly evident in the relationship between music and fashion. Nigerian artists have also embraced the trend, taking their influence from the stage to the catwalk and walking for fashion houses both locally and internationally. From Afrobeats stars to rising acts, here are some of the Nigerian musicians who have made their mark on the runway.

Wizkid
Wizkid for the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2019 Menswear Fashion Show Collection via Pinterest (original creator unknown). If this is your work, please contact us for proper credit In 2018, Wizkid made history as the first African artist to walk for Dolce & Gabbana during Milan Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019. Styled by Stefano Gabbana, he strutted down the runway alongside supermodel Naomi Campbell. For the appearance, he wore a black-and-gold embellished suit over a white inner shirt, finished with a gold chain and a silver-studded balaclava.
Tiwa Savage
Tiwa Savage walking for Fashion for Relief in 2019 via bellanaijastyle.com Tiwa Savage made her runway debut at Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief charity show during London Fashion Week in 2019. She showcased her starpower on the catwalk in a striking sweetheart-neckline dress featuring bold black-and-white patterns and intricate ruched detailing.
Burna Boy
Burna Boy walking for Off-White in 2025 via @off____white on Instagram Burna Boy made his runway debut at the Fall/Winter 2026 show during Paris Fashion Week, walking in the “State of Resistance” collection curated by Ibrahim Kamara. With his commanding presence, he strutted down the runway in an all-black leather look featuring a jacket with a faux-fur collar, a cinched waist with a belt and matching shorts. Completing the look were black sunglasses and tactical hybrid boots.
Davido
Davido walking for Ugo Monye via @davido on Instagram In 2024, Davido walked for Ugo Monye, who had previously created the custom traditional outfits worn for his high-profile wedding. This moment marked the star’s second runway appearance, the first being for Puma in 2022. For Ugo Monye’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Davido captivated the audience in a highly traditional ensemble, featuring a statement textured poncho-style overcoat, a layered tunic, patterned wide-legged trousers and traditional coral bead accessories. He completed the look with a walking stick, adding to the regal feel of the ensemble.

Ayra Starr
Ayra Starr for Di Petsa in 2025 via @bellanaijastyle on Instagram Ayra Starr brought her signature sabi girl style to the runway for her catwalk debut at Di Petsa’s Autumn/Winter 2025 show during London Fashion Week in February 2025. Dressed in a striking white mesh ensemble, the singer commanded attention as she made her way down the aisle, bringing the same bold energy and flair that have become synonymous with her style.
Rema
Rema walking for Diesel in 2025 via @diesel on Instagram Rema joined the Diesel runway during Milan Fashion Week for the fashion house’s Autumn/Winter 2026 show, presented under the creative direction of Glenn Martens. The singer came out in a distressed denim look layered with a metallic gold shearling vest, embodying the bold, experimental aesthetic of Martens’ collection. His runway presence added another Nigerian name to the growing list of Afrobeats stars making their mark on the international fashion scene.
Taves
Taves on the runway for Street Souk at Lagos Fashion Week 2025 via @tavesthegreat on Instagram Taves took his style from the studio to the runway at Lagos Fashion Week 2025, making his catwalk debut for Zacchi Lagos as part of Street Souk’s first-ever runway show. The singer-songwriter embraced the streetwear aesthetic in an olive-green zip-up vest, camouflage cargo shorts, Timberland boots and a cap. The moment highlighted the growing interaction between Nigeria’s emerging Gen Z music talent and its evolving streetwear scene.
Bayanni
Bayanni in the Bayanni Set from Emmy Kasbit at the Lagos Fashion Week 2025 via lagosfashionweek.ng Singer Bayanni made a highly anticipated stint on the runway for Emmy Kasbit. He modelled the Bayanni set, a look named after the singer and presented in a striking shade of green. The ensemble featured an Akwete vest paired with bootcut Akwete trousers from the “Rebirth” collection. Bayanni’s showcase brought the brand’s signature artisanal craftsmanship to life.
Magixx
View this post on InstagramIn February 2025, Magixx took to the runway for British-Nigerian fashion house Tokyo James as it unveiled its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, “Midnight”.
He wore a mocha-brown wool-cotton 2-piece set brought together by a leather belt and finished with black sunglasses. Held at Vici in Victoria Island, Lagos, the showcase brought together fashion and music, with Magixx lending his presence to the designer’s latest collection.
The sound of fashion: Nigerian artists on the runway
Nigerian musicians continue to prove that their influence does not stop at the stage. Their appearances on local and international runways reflect a growing relationship between music, fashion and popular culture. Additionally giving artists another platform to express their identities and personal style. As more musicians step into the world of fashion, the catwalk is becoming yet another space where they can shape trends, challenge expectations and leave their mark beyond music.
While putting this list together, one thing became clear: male artists currently dominate the crossover between music and the runway. As the music and fashion continues to intertwine, we’d love to see more of Nigeria’s Afrobeats queens claim their place on the catwalk. Where they can bring their distinct influence and creative expression to a space where music, fashion and lifestyle increasingly intersect.
