The Ndi-Ichie Cultural Association of Houston confirms Wazobia Market as Lead
Sponsor of the 23rd Annual Igbofest Houston and unveiled a 2026 performance lineup that
required four sets of boarding passes. The festival takes place Saturday, October 24, 2026, from
2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Discovery Green, and remains free and open to the public. Organizers
expect attendees from across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Wazobia Market has been feeding this community properly since long before African cuisine
became a trend. The grocer now anchors The United States longest running Igbo cultural festival
as its Lead Sponsor.
Headlining the 2026 program is Igwe Cultural Entertainment, returning as the festival’s featured
cultural act. Along with the Ijele Masquerade, inscribed by UNESCO in 2009 on the
Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and widely regarded as the
largest masquerade in Africa. Ijele stands roughly thirteen feet tall and has never once made a
quiet entrance. Photographers should bring the wide lens.
The performance roster travels in from Minnesota, Las Vegas, California and Atlanta, bringing
dance troupes and performers who have spent years building Igbo cultural life in their own cities.
For one afternoon in October, all of it lands in downtown Houston, featuring partners Houston
Auto Recyclers, Ace Home Healthcare, ProMedix Health, Phoenix Metals, and NUC Logistics.
Igbofest Houston 2026 also welcomes the DeBakey High School African Student Association
to the program, joining the community groups and cultural societies taking part this year. Their
participation carries the mission of the Ndi-Ichie Youth Cultural Foundation, which is passing Igbo
language, music and tradition to the generation that will run this festival.“In June we invited every son and daughter of Igboland to come home to Houston,” said Kingsley
Okeke, President of the Ndi-Ichie Cultural Association. “Our young people answered. Now
performers are flying in from four states and the Ijele is on the way. October 24th will be crowded,
